Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

1.          Publication Ethics

1.1      Editorial office Ethics:

Editors must conform to the following:

a.     All article submitted are treated fairly based on the intellectual content of the paper regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion and citizenry.

b.     All comment to authors should be responsible and objective.

 

1.2      Authors Submission Ethics:

Authors must conform to the following:

a.     Only unpublished manuscripts should be submitted for consideration.

b.     Submitted manuscripts must be the original work of the author/authors

c.     The article should not have been submitted to another journal already or concurrently.

d.     Any conflict of interest must be clearly stated and acknowledged.

e.     All the data or statements used in the development of the manuscript must be properly acknowledged.

f.       All errors discovered in the manuscript after submission must be swiftly communicated to the editor.

 

1.3      Reviewers Ethics:

All reviewers must conform to the following:

a.     That all manuscripts are reviewed in fairness based on the intellectual content of the paper regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion and citizenry.

b.     That any observed conflict of interest; plagiarism etc. during the review process must be communicated to the editor.

c.     That all information regarding the article under consideration is kept confidential.

d.     That any other information deemed reasons for the rejection and/or acceptance for publication of the article must be communicated to the editor.

e.     The comment must be technical, respectful and only related to the article submitted and must be free from insulting and intimidating words.

 

 

 

Article Preparation Guidelines

The journal publishes high-quality papers on theoretical developments and practical applications in engineering and engineering technology, physical and life sciences, industrial operations and building services, and computer and information technology in the form of original research papers, state-of-the-art reviews, and high-quality technical notes. The general journal component format is as follows:

 

a.       Abstract: This should contain only the motivation, aim of the study, materials, and methodology, results obtained, conclusions, and recommendations in brief. The abstract should not exceed 300 words. The study should have maximum of 8 keywords.

 

b.       Introduction: This should briefly describe why the study is important, considering previous situations and scenarios and some literatures on similar works or experiments, the types of materials used and other methodologies, a possible motivation for the research, and stating the gap filled by the study, etc. All literature considered must be duly acknowledged. It may contain subheadings if the need arises.

 

c.       Materials and Methods: This should explain the specification of the material used and the methods followed to achieve the purpose of the research. It may contain other subheadings if the need arises.

 

d.       Result and Discussion: This should display the findings of the research and an explanation of the results. This may be in two headings (i.e. results separate from discussion).

 

e.       Conclusions: This should give a general outcome of the result and discussions.

 

f.        Recommendation:  This should include possible further studies to be conducted based on the shortcoming of the present research. This section is optional and it is not numbered.

 

g.       Acknowledgement: This should include appreciations made by the authors to funding bodies or organizations that helped or contributed towards the success of the study. This section is optional and not numbered.

 

h.       References: This should contain the list of all reviewed and acknowledged articles and manuscripts in the study. The citation of references in the text should be numbered consecutively starting from the beginning of the report using a square bracket with Arabic numerals. The first citation in the article shall be the first reference in the reference list. Such as for one reference [1], for two or three references not in sequences [1, 4], and three [1, 5, 7], for references in sequence it should be [2 – 4], and so on.

 

The general formats include:

a.       All manuscripts should be typed in Microsoft word (compatible with newer versions), A4size, in English language, double line spaced and 0 points before and after spacing, and submitted in a single column. Alternatively papers may be formatted as in the template downloaded in the journal website. The theme font should be in Arial Narrow and 7500 words maximum

b.       Margins should be 1.2 inches (3cm) left, 0.8 inches (2cm) top, bottom, and right.

c.       All headings from the Introduction to the Conclusion should be numbered sequentially using Arabic numerals 1., 2., 3., etc. and aligned left. Subheadings are numbered 1.1, 1.2, etc. If a subsection must be further divided, the numbers 1.1.1, 1.1.2, etc. are used and are flushed left in Italics.

d.       Figure captions should appear below the figure and centred and in sentence case. When referring to a figure in the body of the text, the abbreviation "Fig.” should be used followed by the number. Figures should be numbered in the order they appear in the text. Table captions should appear centred above the table and in sentence case. When referring to a table in the text, no abbreviation is used i.e. the word "Table" is used.

e.       Figures and tables should be clear and those that are extra-large should be in a single column. They should be numbered sequentially using Arabic numerals as they appear in the report.

1. Review Process

1.1 Reviewer Guide

All manuscripts are to be reviewed in fairness based on the intellectual content of the paper regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion and citizenry and any observed conflict of interest; plagiarism etc. during the review process must be communicated to the Editor. All information regarding the article under consideration is kept confidential and any other information deemed reasonable for the rejection and/or acceptance for publication of the article must be communicated to the editor or editorial office only.

The reviewers are to check and give answers in short sentences to the following:

a.     Originality of the research article:

                     i.        Check whether the article contains new and significant information adequate to justify publication in the _________?

                   ii.        Check whether the article is useful to respective profession and discipline?

b.     Literature survey:

                     i.        Is there relationship between literature reviewed and the study made?

                   ii.        Check for adequacy, currency and relevancy of cited and referenced literatures?

c.     Aim and Objectives:

                     i.        Are the aim and objective of the research clearly stated?

                   ii.        Are the aim and objective of the research successfully achieved?

d.     Material and Methods:

                     i.        Is the article argument built on appropriate theory, concept or other standard technical ideas?

                   ii.        Are the methods employed appropriate, robust and rigorous?

e.     Result:

                     i.        Are the results in the form of table, graphs or chart presented correctly, clearly and appropriate?

                   ii.        Are the result analysed appropriately.

                  iii.        Did the charts, graphs and the tables add value to the study?

f.      Discussion:

                     i.        Is the article discussed in relation to the literature reviewed, tables, figures and charts?

                   ii.        Did the charts, graphs and the tables add value to the discussion of result?

g.     Implication of the research:

                     i.        What is the impact of the research to the society or to the world at large in terms of research and development, economy and public attitude?

h.     Quality of communication:

                     i.        Is the paper well and clearly presented in a well technical language of the respective field of the study?

i.        Any other comments that can contribute to improving the quality of the submission are welcome.

j.        Recommendation of either accepts, accepts with minor or major correction or reject.

 

1.2 Editorial Review Guide

All editors must confirm the following:

a.     Originality of the research article:

                     i.        Check whether the article contains new and significant information adequate to justify publication in the _________?

                   ii.        Check whether the article is useful to respective profession and discipline.

b.     Literature survey:

                     i.        Is there relationship between literature reviewed and the study made?

                   ii.        Check for adequacy, currency and relevancy of cited and referenced literatures?

 

Article Processing Charges (APC)

All manuscripts submitted to _______ are assumed to be submitted under the open access publishing model and conform to the manuscript preparation guidelines. Papers submitted for publication are rigorously peer-reviewed in the normal way under editorial board control. When an article is accepted for publication, the journal will issue to the corresponding author an acceptance letter containing the name/names of the author/authors, the decision of the editorial board, reviewer's reports, and payment details. Once an article is accepted and the publication fee has been paid, the article will be formatted according to manuscript publication format and published online in the upcoming issue. The authors are to download their article after publication from the ______ website _______ and the hard copy shall where applicable be sent to the authors within one to two weeks after an issue is published. Payment of charges may be made via one of the following modes:

a.     Authors shall pay the sum of ₦10,000.00 before or during submission of article as journal reviewing and processing charges for authors within Nigeria. The receipt of payment shall be submitted alongside the article.

b.     The authors also shall pay the sum of ₦30,000.00 as processing, formatting, publication, website and data maintenance charges, and other administration charges. For international article, $100.00 shall be paid after acceptance of the article.

c.     The cover page, table of content and the articles for each issue are available online for downloading. If the author or authors wishes to obtain a hard copy of the journal they should make an additional payment for hard copy.

d.     The APC payment should be made only after acceptance and through the details provided in the acceptance letter or by the editorial/journal office.
